Message from the President

The excitement continues from 2007.  The legislation that former Governor Spitzer vetoed has been re-introduced in both the Senate (Senator DeFrancisco ) and in the Assembly (Assemblyman Magnarelli).

You will find links to the bills on our legislative page.

Hopefully once the state budget is done these bills

will move forward.

CNY Waterways was invited to attend the first ever

Flood Summit held in Binghamton this year.

I would like to note a couple of issues happening that will could have an impact on most of our members.

#1)  Court Ruling Poses Serious Threat To Boating.  go to our front page for a link to more information on this issue.

#2)  Canal Lock Hours Reduced.  Please check back soon for more information on this issue.

Your support is needed to get both of these

matters off the table.

Be sure to attend our member meeting April 17th.

Remember if there are any issues you think CNY Waterways, Inc. should be addressing I am only a phone call away.

Our organization has just experienced the most amazing year in its history.

Although the Governor vetoed the legislation to create a basin wide commission the issue gained much attention across the state and brought many supporters to the table.  This was just the beginning of our active presence in Albany.

We continue working with our legislators on deciding what direction we must go in our efforts to increase tourism along CNY waterways, improve opportunities for waterfront development and more.

Your support, your neighbors support and your friends support is vital to our success.  We've come a long way and are by no means done until much of the flooding in CNY is mitigated.

Thank you for your support.

President Sam Cimilluca

2006 message

The Central New York economy and tourist trade will be greatly improved when all CNY water bodies have stable water levels.

When one section of Central New York is in flood every section is affected.

CNY Waterways is working to mitigate flooding within the Oswego River Basin and to eradiate invasive species in the basin.
